How to practice/wrap up: Techniques for safe after class (never on other people) practice of CPR skills “tricks of the trade” for remembering ratios, distribution of our toll-free, 24-hour number (a resource given to every student (so that the student may call if he/she has questions after class, loses the CPR Recognition Card, etc.), statistics regarding the efficacy of CPR, after care for the rescuer - why some patients do not survive;
Practical: Students practice each skill taught. Manikin practice safety shields are provided for each student and manikin is disinfected between students. Each student is given individual instruction and is guided through each skill. Corrections are provided so that each student eventually completes accurate cycles of each skill. The student is helped through each step in a humanistic, non-threatening manner. Practice continues until the student is able to “test out” by performing an acceptable cycle of each skill taught. Recognition card issued at end of hands-on practice.
