CPR EDUCATION LEVELS/COURSE CONTENT
“ADULT”: Adult CPR and Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) management for laypersons. Use of barrier devices taught.
“CHILDCARE PROVIDER”: Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and FBAO management for laypersons and child care professionals. Use of barrier devices taught.
“HEALTHCARE PROVIDER”: Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and FBAO management with instruction and practice in two person CPR and use of barrier devices. Also includes instruction in use of the AED (Automatic External Defibrillator)
DEFINITIONS: Adult: Persons older than 8 years of age Child: Persons between 1 and 8 years of age, inclusive Infant: Persons under 1 year of age Laypersons: Persons who are not health or child care professionals FBAO Management: The “Heimlich Maneuver” for choking Barrier Device: Any device designed to minimize the transmission of air, contact, and body fluid borne pathogens in the performance of CPR.
